How does it work?

First,  register for a free Privacemail account. Fingertips Online Counselling currently offers 2 types of safe and secure online counselling:

1. Online Chat: messages are exchanged synchronously (at the same time, just like Messenger). We both login to the Privacemail website at our scheduled appointment time and have our session in real-time via online chat.

2. Private Conversations: messages are exchanged asynchronously (at different times, just like email) through the Privacemail website.  You can login to the website at ANYTIME to send me a message and I reply in the same way.  Click on Demo to watch a video about how to have Private Conversations using Privacemail.

You can choose to have all of your sessions through online chat or private conversations OR you can switch from week to week depending on your preference or schedule – it’s completely up to you! Check out the Q & A page for more details.

How do I know if online counselling is right for me?

Fingertips Online Counselling is suitable for anyone who has access to a computer. It is not suitable for individual's who are currently in emergency situations or at imminent risk for self-harm or suicide. If you are in need of immediate assistance please contact 9-1-1, go to your nearest emergency department, or call 1-800-SUICIDE (in North America).

Welcome to Fingertips Online Counselling. You might be asking yourself how online counselling works, or if it's the right method of counselling for you, or how can you possibly do counselling over the internet? Online counselling is just like in-person counselling, except that our counselling sessions take place over the internet.  Online counselling is an alternative to in-person counselling - instead of coming to see me in my office every week you now have the option of coming to 'see' me in my virtual office in YOUR own home or office, on YOUR schedule, whenever YOU want.

Online counselling provides a convenient alternative for people who are too busy, too far away, or who for a variety of reasons are unable to attend counselling in-person. It's great for people who are house-bound, live in rural communities, travel often, have young children, or who simply prefer to communicate online in the comfort of their own home. One of the best things about online counselling is that you never have to wait for your next session - you are always in control of when you write to me and you can write to me anytime you want, and as often as you want. I also offer in-person sessions, if you prefer.

Fingertips Online Counselling ensures your online privacy and confidentiality by using secure encrypted software called Privacemail.
